Pinterest is a great tool for finding inspiration and looking at what’s possible in the world of kitchens. Not only do you have access to thousands of images, but you can curate and organise those images into categories so that you can refer back to them again and again as you compile your dream kitchen. And whether you’re hankering after a minimalist shaker kitchen or you dream of a traditional kitchen with plenty of finely-crafted detail, there is a world of options at your fingertips.
How does it work?
Pinterest works on the principle of boards. Just like a real-life mood board, you can collect an assortment of images and pin them onto your boards. You can create as many boards for your pins as you want. So,if you want to collectimages of kitchen taps, you can create a board and label it ‘Taps’. You can then create another board and label it ‘Cupboard handles’.
Here’s a little guide to follow;
- Log into Pinterest and if you don’t already have one set up an account
- Type ‘kitchens’ into the search bar
- Across the top of the page there will be a number of options that you can use to refine your search. For example, if you’re interested in ‘Kitchen Islands’ or ‘storage’ then type in these terms to enable the images with these elements. Continue with these tags until you have a number of pictures on your feed.
- When you find an image you want to keep, hover on the image and click the pin in the right-hand corner. A drop-down menu lets you choose which of your boards you’d like to pin it to, or you can create a new board, naming it as you wish. So, for example, I have a board called kitchen cupboards, where I pin all my images of kitchen cupboards. You can also write a brief description of the image you’re pinning to help you remember why you added it to your boards.
